Something I Miss

I miss my family. ...and having a family.
Those probably sound related, but they're not.
I miss my family, as in my mom and brother and the family I grew up with. We used to be close, sitting up at night watching movies, smoking cigarettes (I quit this about 6 years ago and don't miss those at all!), eating junk food and shooting the sh*t. I had my mom to bounce ideas off of and to visit with when I needed encouragement during life's struggles. -- Then I moved away. Only an hour and a half away but when everyone has busy families and full-time jobs an hour and a half may as well be across the damn country.  I don't see them nearly enough anymore.
I also miss having a family, as in the sense of family I had before my divorce, the type of family with unspoken understandings because they were a part of creating all of the good, bad, and ugly that makes you you. Judging by all the memes and Facebook posts I read making blended families seem so easy and natural, I must be doing something wrong because it's not the same. I mean, it's not all bad ...
but it's not the same.
I miss the unity, companionship, and familiarity of my 'first' family.

I'm going to go far less serious here. I just don't have it in me to dig deep on this one.  I miss playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online on the Playstation 3.  I also miss playing World of Warcraft.  I had friends on both of those games. I was pretty good at COD4 and I really liked playing WoW. And I miss them both. It's not about time or equipment. I literally am not able to get the internet that I need to play these games. Therefore I do not need the consoles or computers that are required to play them. And that sucks.

This one is hard. Like, really hard. I can't even count the number of times
I have been asked this at work and my answer is always the same: 'I don't know.'
And this is no different...
Let's see here, in 10 years I'll be 43, my husband will be 53 and my kids will be 23, 23, and 21.
What does one do once their kids are 'grown' but they are still tied to a job? I figure you keep doing what you've always done. Get up every morning, go to work (at least by then hopefully I'll have figured out what I want to do with my work self and be settled in nicely), come home, and do home things. I should have more vacation time by then and not have as many doctor and dentist appointments to attend so maybe I'll actually get to go on vacations and have time for things like home décor, and fishing, and hunting.
My pups will be old and lazy by then so maybe we can lounge by the lake that
I'd love to be living on by then. Oh, or maybe we can lounge on the boat I hope to own by then!
So that's what I want to be doing in 10 years - lounging on a boat.

Where will I be in 10 years?!?!?! Hmmmm... That's a tough one. First I think back to where I was 10 years ago.  I was 23 ... I literally was within a couple weeks of getting married the 1st time around. So that being said ... Did I think I would be where I am now? Re-married and still childless?? Nope. So I am almost thinking that looking 10 years out is silly. But here it goes anyway: So I will be 43 years old in 10 years. My husband will be 45 ... and my step daughter will be 21 (WOW).  I'm hoping to have a couple more kids ... So depending on when exactly that happens (hopefully sooner than later) we'll be raising some elementary aged kids. We will hopefully have some shade trees in our yard (which we are working on getting - but trees need time to grow [duh]), Hopefully we'll have a nice patio area. And Hopefully I'll be fit and in shape. These are all hopes. Hopes are easier than 'plans!'
